The fact that Disabled Refugees Welcome \u2013 Right to Work (DRW \u2013 RTA) would organise training was already included in the planning stage. “There is a low level of knowledge about the problems that migrants with disabilities face when they come to Sweden,” says Suzanne Elmqvist, the project’s education manager, in this interview. Ashraf Frugh has now been hired as an advisor and field worker on the project. Here is a text he wrote shortly after he started as an intern in the project in the autumn. In a vivid way, he talks about the relief of coming to Sweden, but how this was exchanged for the hell of unemployment \u2013 applying for lots of jobs without hardly even getting an answer.<\/p>\n

Catalina Fipper and Nelly H\u00f6lter, who interned in the project during the autumn, have written an essay, a paper, on the connection between migration, disability, employment and health. Different definitions of important concepts, such as health<\/em> and disability, <\/em>made comparisons between different studies difficult, they write.<\/p>\n

Work Caf\u00e9, theme health\/Swedish Public Employment Service <\/a><\/h2>\n

For many unemployed people, the relationship with the Public Employment Service is of great importance for their health. The Work Caf\u00e9 that we had on the theme of health came to be almost exclusively about different participants’ (bad) relationships with the Public Employment Service. A lot of it has to do with a feeling that the administrators are not listening.<\/p>\n

Two new interns: Leonie Grie\u00dfers<\/a> and Luana Butzer<\/a><\/h2>\n

Two new interns joined the project in January. Leonie is studying Social Work in the field of Mental Health and Addiction at the Cooperative State University Villingen-Schwenningen (DHBW) in Germany and Luana is studying Social Work \u2013 Youth, Family and Social Welfare at Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg Cooperative State University in Germany.
